Es war ein Zufall, ein Wetterumschwung, der im August 1936 das in Sillian urlaubende Wiener Ehepaar Anni und Ernst Schrom über Nacht Quartier am Bauernhof „Renner“ im Villgratental beziehen ließ. Aus diesem Ereignis  entstand nicht nur eine lebenslange Freundschaft, sondern vor allem eine Sammlung zutiefst persönlicher Eindrücke, welche der Gast aus der Großstadt in sich aufsog.

He captured the past andbelieved past, his paintings became the memory of an entire region. While these works were of little importance beyond local knowledge during their creation in the 1930s to 1950s, they are increasingly of cultural significance today, around eight decades later.
