2021: borders|less. Of dividing lines and overcoming

Museum Castle Bruck, Main Wing
June 25 - October 26, 2021

What are borders, who defines them - and how are they overcome?

100 years ago, a border was drawn right through the district of Lienz, today"s South Tyrol became Italian territory. 50 years earlier, borders had been broken, the construction of the Southern Railway connected the seemingly idyllic mountain life with the world and brought not only tourism and trade, but above all new social ideas and ways of life more quickly into the region.

to hear the quiet, unassuming sounds. Töne zu hören.

Borders can paralyze, inhibit movements, end freedoms. Borders also challenge to overcome them, to seek new paths, to gather experiences. Borders provide protection, but also foster creativity and imagination of all those who live with them or come into contact with them - whether in the art of words and painting, in the exhibition adorned with some prominent loans, or, quite profanely, in the art of smuggling. Life in the border region of East Tyrol can contribute many stories to this.
