2006: TRACES³ Part II - Many Borders - Many Lords

20.05. – 29.10.2006

East Tyrol from 610 AD to the 19th century

While in 2005 we were still looking deep into prehistory and early history, the second part of the search for traces3 under the title “Many Borders – Many Masters” turns the wheel of time further forward. The exhibition, which covers around 1,200 years, leads from the fall of the Roman city of Aguntum, due to the fighting between Bavarians and Slavs, to the Napoleonic era and the beginning of the 19th century. During the early Middle Ages, the political and cultural unity of Roman times was replaced by a surprising complexity in the eastern Puster Valley and its side valleys. Several secular and spiritual powers or “lords” establish themselves here, which leads to the formation of numerous boundaries.
